Today, I'll introduce Nagasaki.
Nagasaki is famous for "dezima". In Edo age, the government at that time(=Edo bakuhu) closed the door to foreigners. In other words, they closed own country to outsider. Japan had no trade relations with foreign countries. People at that time had no way to get information or articles of outsider. But "dezima" was the only place where government permit to carry on commerce. "dezima" is historically very important place. Now, that is a popular tourist destination.
By the way, favorite food in Nagasaki is sponge cake; now traditional to Japan, and containing many local ingredients, but originally imitated from that of Castella in the 16th century.
I went there too. When I was a junior high school student, I went there because of school trip.

I have been to Nagasaki in the school excursion. However, I was not able to go sightseeing so much in Nagasaki because there was not so much time of sightseeing. I want to take time to go sightseeing in Nagasaki when there is this time a chance that I go to Nagasaki.
返信削除I have never been to Nagasaki yet. But, I'm very intrested in the culture of Nagasaki, since the weather in Nagasaki have many different point compared with that of Hokkaido. Therefore, the food culture is very fasinating for me, including castella.

返信削除I heard that present dejima is not island, but the city of Nagasaki try to restore dejima. I want to go to Nagasaki because I have never been to Nagasaki.
返信削除I have been to "dejima" in Nagasaki. I did not at all believe the trade to have been done only there. In addition, I did not know the roll cake was born from the sponge cake!
